Spring Streets

Spring is here, despite this weekend’s chilly weather! We have a number of updates to share with the EALS community.

  • Over 100 people attended the Park Ave improvement project on Mar. 31st. An overview of the project was presented, along with design options. See the presentation and share your thoughts in the online survey (open until Apr. 18th).
  • Want to ride your bike, but need to carry a lot of stuff? Arlington now has a cargo bike share program, operated by CargoB. This is a great option to combine errands, kid trips and more with biking and I am looking forward to trying it out.
  • Last fall, Arlington received a $1.1 million grant to redesign the Broadway corridor as a safer and livable complete street. The Request for Proposal (RFP) was sent out in March and a consultant will be selected to lead this process. We will continue to follow and provide updates on this project.
  • AmpUp! is Arlington’s Comprehensive Plan update. There was a kickoff public meeting on Apr. 3rd (see presentation materials). The town is looking for your feedback, so please fill out the survey by Apr. 27th.
  • Celebrate Earth Day by joining the Alewife Brook Path Clean-up, organized by Save the Alewife Brook, a local group dedicated to cleaning up the brook and preventing Combined Sewer Overflows (CSOs). Meet at Bicentennial Park at Mass Ave and Boulevard Road at 10:00 am, Saturday, April 26th. Bring gloves, water, & garbage picker, if you have one.
  • ·As always, you’re welcome to join our next meeting on May 8th at 7 pm. Agenda and zoom link will be sent before the meeting.

Happy walking, biking and more!
